Using Cognitive Learning Styles to Increase the Students Vocabulary Mastery

This
research aimed to find out
the students to increase their vocabulary mastery, especially on teaching noun,verb and adjective at the second year students of
Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Baraka in 2011-2012 academic years.
The problem
statement of the research: How
does visual cognitive learning style improve the students’ vocabulary mastery
of Noun,Verb and adjective of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Baraka in 2011-2012
academic years.
The researcher used Class Action Research (CAR). The researcher
had conducted two cycles, where each cycle consists of four meetings. It
employed vocabulary test as instrument. The number subject of the research is
25 students in class XI IPS 2. The researcher took data real from the school to
know the students’ vocabulary.
The results of the student's
vocabulary test in cycle 1 and cycle 2. Had significantly different
scores. There was a better increase of
gains by students at the end of action of second cycle. The research findings
indicated that use of Visual Cognitive Learning Style could increase the
students’ vocabulary and after evaluation in cycles I and II, the means scores
increased from 64% in the first cycle to 82% in the second one which was
categorized good enough. It is can be stated that the students’ vocabulary mastery at the
second year in class XI IPS 2 of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Baraka Kabupaten
Enrekang was in a low level before the test in the first cycle and the position
of vocabulary mastery moved into a high level after the test in the second
cycle.
